Dropped Objects Survey
With ever increasing emphasis towards the prevention of dropped objects, spreading throughout the industry, the need for more vigilance and awareness of your workplace and surrounding environment is an essential requirement.
SSI over the cause of many years has been constantly working to combat dropped objects incidents, in an effort to provide our clients with a better and safer working environment. We have developed web based reporting software for Dropped Objects Surveys, which is used by our inspectors to compile an inventory of all potential drops items in the work area, listing the risk category, location, fastening / secondary retention method and recommended corrective actions. For ease of identification each inventory item is coupled with photographic illustrations of the item in question.
SSI is currently using this software for a number of Drilling Companies operating around the globe, where our software has been further developed and adapted to suit our client’s individual requirements and management systems. Combined with our derrick Structural Inspection software and Picture book, it provides for an all round solution, in the identification, recording, monitoring and rectification of potential dropped object scenarios.
Areas covered in the program, subject to client requirements:
- Derrick Structure
- Traveling & Handling Equipment
- Post & Gantry Cranes
- Radio Masts
- Cantilever & Moon Pool Area
- Leg & Jack Housings
- Raised Catwalks or Conveyor
- Accommodation & Rig Compartments
- Third Party Equipment
The program also incorporates a corrective action section, where defective items can be extracted in categories of risk, recommended remedial action entered and date recorded when an item is closed out.
Reports can be printed directly or the Spreadsheet data can be extracted in various formats, including excel and pdf, for ease of distribution.
The inspection reports can be accessed online from our web server by authorized clients.
The next stage of the procedure is to implement the recommended corrective actions which are easily tracked in the software using the data already recorded.
