HardBanding Application
Hardbanding is a technique designed to extend the life of drilling tools and reduce wear on casings, marine risers and BOPs.
It is applied in 1 inch bands around the circumference of the tool joints and center wear pads to protect the drill pipe tool joints and center wear pads from excessive wear while drilling.
SSI is an approved applicator for hardbanding products. We offer different types of application to meet your requirements:
- Arnco 300XT is an environmentally- safe, Chrome- free, ferrous- based alloy. It creates minimum casing wear and maintains significantly more open hole wear resistance needed to protect the drill pipe tool joints from rapid wear found in highly abrasive drilling conditions. A raised application provides maximum casing, tool joint, marine riser and BOPs protection.
- Pinnchrome can be applied over existing tungsten carbide hardbanding. Save time and cost from not having to remove the tungsten, but also get the dual wear layer advantage.
- SmoothX provides a smooth surface with little or no exposed carbide to minimize the tool joint wear. This is achieved by machining a groove into the tool joint body where tungsten carbide hardbanding is applied until flush with the OD.
- Tungsten Carbide is available in crushed, sintered and fused forms. While still available for traditional applications, where feasible, drilling contractors and operators should look to Arnco 100XT or 300XT for better all- round protection.
- Armacor MStar, chrome based material is a quality product designed for both Tool joint and casing wear protection
- Tuboscope TCs Titanium Hardband, SSI are an approved applicator of this product which provides minimum casing wear and tool joint protection
- SSI is Certified Applicator for:
- Certified ARNCO 200XT™ Hardbander
- Certified ARNCO 300XT™ Hardbander
- PinnChrome Certificate of Approval
